Alain Eschenlauer’s Rorschach’s Insects Alain Eschenlauer is a young artist living and working in Strasbourg, France. In this exhibition, he presents artworks juxtaposing entomologically precise drawings of insects and symmetrical inkblots reminiscent of Rorschach’s inkblots. Aidekman Arts Center, Slater Concourse Gallery, through July 31. Public opening reception Thursday, June 4, 5:30–8:30 p.m. Gallery summer hours are Wednesday through Sunday, noon–5 p.m.

Tufts Distinction Awards The second annual Tufts Distinction Awards ceremony, Behrakis Auditorium, Jaharis Family Center, Boston, 10 a.m. Live viewing available at the Distler Performance Hall in the Granoff Music Center and in the Agnes Varis Auditorium in Grafton. Transportation available to Boston from Grafton and Medford. Sixth Annual Juried Summer Exhibition A year after celebrating its fifth annual exhibition by featuring five site-specific installations, the Tufts University Art Gallery went “back to the basics” in 2009 with an open call to all professional artists living and/or working out of a studio in three of Tufts’ host communities (Grafton, Medford and Somerville). The 36 selected artists represent a variety of media, styles and themes. Aidekman Arts Center, Tufts University Art Gallery, through August 2. Public opening reception: Thursday, June 4, 5:30–8:30 p.m. Gallery summer hours are Wednesday through Sunday, noon–5 p.m.
