Triple crown
3 medical students awarded Fogarty grants

Three Tufts medical students are among the 27 U.S. health sciences students
awarded prestigious Fogarty International Center/Ellison Foundation grants
for the coming year to conduct research at an NIH-funded institution in
a developing country. The U.S. students are paired with host-country students,
contributing to an international community of research scholars.
Joseph Donroe, A98, M.D./M.P.H. ’06, will work in Lima, Peru, researching
emerging infections. Andrea Finkelman, M.D./M.P.H. ’06, will be
based in Vellore, India, studying HIV-related heath issues in young women
in southern India. Eric Nelson, M.D./Ph.D. ’10, will work at the
International Center for Diarrheal Disease Research in Bangladesh on the
nature of cholera outbreaks.
