EPA recognizes Mystic River Watershed

The Mystic River Watershed Association has received an Environmental Merit Award from the New England region of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The Mystic River Watershed Association is working to enable people to fish and swim in the Mystic River by 2010. The association has promoted watershed protection and clean-up efforts by partnering with Tufts University and other area schools to conduct monitoring and involve local communities and students in clean-up efforts.

The EPA’s New England region each year honors teachers, community activists, business leaders, scientists, government officials and others who have exemplified leadership in protecting public health and New England’s environment.
