San Francisco Tufts Alliance “Nutrition, Fitness and
You,” a presentation by Miriam Nelson, associate professor and director
of the Center for Physical Fitness at the Friedman School of Nutrition
Science and Policy. Cost is $30 per person at the door and includes reception,
a copy of Nelson’s recent book and valet parking. A portion of the proceeds
from the event will benefit humanitarian studies programs at the Friedman

with the Provost.” Jamshed Bharucha, senior vice president and provost
of Tufts, a respected scholar in neuroscience and a gifted violinist,
shares his findings from his research on how our brains perceive music
and how our perceptions may be influenced by culture and environment.

University Art Gallery Tufts’ first annual “Juried Summer
Exhibition” presents the work of 20 area artists who work in a variety
of mediums, including photography, painting and mixed-media sculpture.
The exhibition, which was juried by the new gallery director, Amy Ingrid
Schlegel, is free and open to the public and runs through August 1. An
opening reception and community open house will take place on Friday,
June 11, from 5-8:30 p.m. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Sunday from
