Library renovations enhance research capabilities

Tufts has completed $500,000 in renovations to the lower level of Tisch Library, known as Level G. The project, identified as a priority in the Tisch Library Strategic Plan, has expanded the library’s shelving capacity to one million volumes to support graduate programs and research.

Now faculty, students and staff can access the university’s entire collection of back runs of academic journals, and there is additional study space for students. The project also incorporated the offices for the Digital Collections and Archives into the main library.

The $500,000 renovation was funded through a number of sources. JoAnn Giffuni Wellner, J63, chair of the Friends of Tufts Libraries, matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000, all gifts targeted to the Level G project. Other contributors were members of the Friends of Tufts Libraries, parents and Tisch Library and Arts, Sciences and Engineering administrators. The Class of 1969 directed its 35th reunion gift to the project.
