July Calendar of Events
JULY 1
Athletics Facilities Summer hours through August 8 for the facilities at Cousens Gymnasium and the Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center on the Medford/Somerville campus are: Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m.; Friday, 11:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m.-noon and Sunday, 4-8 p.m. Special hours on Friday, July 4, 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. All athletics facilities will close for annual maintenance on Friday, August 8, at 6:30 p.m. Open hours will resume for orientation week on August 27. All locks must be turned in to the equipment room and lockers cleaned out by August 8. There are no exceptions. Any items left in lockers will be collected and distributed to local charities.
Tisch Library Summer hours through August 8: Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday, 2-10 p.m. The library will be closed on July 4.
Lost Theatres of Somerville The stories of the old Somerville picture palaces have been resurrected by David M. Guss, associate professor of anthropology at Tufts, and his students in an exhibition that documents this piece of cultural history. Somerville Museum, 1 Westwood Road, Somerville, Mass., through March 2004. Admission is free. Museum hours are Thursdays from 2 to 7 p.m.; Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m. For more information, call the museum at (617) 666-9810.

Participants will create sample videopapers that are viewable on both Macs and PCs. The workshop also will be offered July 9, 10, 22, 23 and 24. Sackler Relays The annual daylong athletic event of the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences to raise money for the Sackler Travel Award Fund, which is used to support selected students in presenting their doctoral research findings at major national and international scientific meetings. Each Sackler graduate program assembles a 12-member team that competes in a bicycling relay, a track relay and a volleyball playoff series. The Sackler Cup is presented to the winning team. The competition is followed by a barbecue, music and dancing, a raffle and the announcement of the new recipients of the Travel Awards. Ellis Oval, 1-6 p.m.
