Still the one

Some of the 5,000 international librarians who attended a meeting of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) in Boston in August toured the Tisch Library at Tufts.

Fifty library planners visited Tisch for an IFLA pre-conference on new library planning hosted by Shepley Bulfinch Richardson and Abbott, the architectural firm that designed Tisch, which opened five years ago. Another 44 toured Tisch, considered an excellent model for new library planning, to see state-of-the-art applications such as the Geographical Information System (GIS) Center, the Media Center and the electronic archives.

On August 15, 50 university administrators planning new libraries toured Tisch and three other Boston libraries as part of the Society of College and University Planners conference, which was meeting in Boston.

The Tisch Library contains more than 750,000 books and 3,000 periodicals in addition to media, microforms, government publications and archival sources.
