Magic Circle Theater Humpty-Dumpty Is Missing or The Mysterious Case of the Fallen Egg, a fun-filled spoof of the private-eye thrillers of the 1940s and 1950s, featuring Sammy Scoop, a private investigator in the tradition of his grandfather, Samuel Shovel, and his father, Sam Spade. Imagining the Elephant Book Reception Christopher Vaughan talks about his new book, a biography of Allan Cormack, Nobel award-winning Tufts University professor. Cormack's pioneering contribution led to the CAT scanner's development. Tisch Library, Austin Conference Room, noon-2 p.m.

Thesis Defense "Food Security and Coping Strategies: The 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami in Aceh, Indonesia," Sally Abbott, graduate student in food policy and applied nutrition, Friedman School. Jaharis Center, Room 155, 1 p.m. Boston campus.

Cummings Community Celebration Activities will begin with Dean Deborah Kochevar's State of the School address from 3 to 4 p.m. in Varis Lecture Hall, with time for questions and answers. At 4 p.m., Cummings faculty, staff and students and their families are invited to a picnic dinner and field day at the Varis Campus Center and Phelps Field.
